The "Christie's Review of the Season" is an annual publication which provides a guide to the international art market. Its colour illustrations of the finest objects from the year's sales and authoritative review articles, provide a permanent record of current trends and prices Highlights of the 1988/9 season were the sale of Picasso's "Acrobat et Jeune Harlequin" in London, and of Pontormo's portrait of Duke Cosimo I de' Medici in New York. There was much interest in Latin American art, and this book contains an article on the subject by Edward Lucie-Smith. The review also features the Palmer collection of Ming blue and white porcelain, the Anglo-Dutch garden exhibition and the Erlenmeyer collection of Cuneiform texts.
